Job Summary

The Department of Anesthesiology at Virginia Commonwealth University is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Anesthesiologist to join our team. As a key member of our department, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional anesthetic and critical care to our pediatric patients, advancing research and quality improvement in anesthesiology and perioperative medicine, and training the next generation of anesthesiologists.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality anesthetic care to patients in the main OR and ambulatory areas, as well as in other critical care areas of the medical center.
  • Supervise and direct Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs) as appropriate.
  • Participate in clinical trials and pursue clinical or laboratory research and other scholarly interests independently, but within the guidelines of the Institution and Department.
  • Teach and mentor residents, medical students, student nurse anesthetists, and others in a clinical setting.
  • Participate in departmental, School of Medicine, University, and VCU Health System committees as requested by the Chair or determined via individual interest.
Requirements
  • MD or DO degree.
  • ABA Board eligible/certified in Anesthesiology and/or certified/eligible for Critical Care Certification.
  • Eligible for unrestricted medical licensure in Virginia.
  • Eligible for employment in the United States.
  • Good communication, clinical, and teaching skills.
  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.
