Position Summary:
The Compression Technician plays a vital role in the preventive and corrective maintenance, application, initiation, and commissioning of Certarus' CNG compression assets. This position requires a professional with expertise in both the practical and theoretical dimensions of gas compression, including mechanical, instrumentation, automation, and operational aspects, while ensuring safe practices and operations of CNG equipment. The Compression Technician will report directly to the Lead Compression Technician.
Work Schedule:
- Daily travel within Certarus compression hubs, with potential travel beyond the assigned region.
- This role follows a rotation schedule of 5 days on and 2 days off.
- Perform safe and consistent maintenance on both permanent and portable CNG compression equipment.
- Assess changes in part dimensions by inspecting used components with measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers.
- Troubleshoot ongoing and sporadic performance issues at the component level.
- Conduct broad electrical, PLC, and instrumentation troubleshooting as required.
- Commission new equipment and perform end-of-service inspections on compression assets.
- Assist in maintaining an effective inventory of spare parts and materials.
- Compile mechanical maintenance reports by gathering, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends, and enter findings into the CMMS.
- Continuously maintain the CMMS (Computer Management Maintenance System).
- Participate in the development of maintenance programs.
- Contribute to team objectives by achieving related results as necessary.
- Uphold a high standard of equipment cleanliness and organization.
- A minimum of 3-5 years of field service experience with compressors is preferred.
- Experience in Natural Gas Compression and additional OEM and industry training is advantageous.
- Familiarity with Waukesha VGF and Ariel systems is a plus.
- Strong organizational and technical communication skills, along with the ability to interact effectively with diverse personalities.
- A robust work ethic complemented by a positive, analytical, and safety-conscious attitude.
- Basic proficiency in computer-based applications such as MS 365.
