Job Description

Position Title: Maintenance Technician

Overview:

The ideal candidate will possess the capability to maintain and repair aluminum extrusion machinery, along with associated handling and support equipment. A strong background in motors, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, as well as single-phase and three-phase electrical systems, conveyor systems, and production machinery is essential. The role requires the ability to interpret diagrams, sketches, operational manuals, manufacturer’s guidelines, and engineering specifications, while effectively troubleshooting any malfunctions. This position is hands-on and involves direct engagement with large industrial machinery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the upkeep and repair of all production and plant support systems, with a primary focus on aluminum extrusion machinery.
  • Work in an environment aimed at minimizing unplanned downtime.
  • Continuously monitor equipment to ensure operational reliability.
  • Repair, install, adjust, modify, and service various types of production equipment, plant instrumentation, and relays.
  • Troubleshoot hydraulic and pneumatic systems effectively.
  • Interpret PLC ladder logic for troubleshooting purposes.
  • Engage in preventive maintenance, predictive maintenance, 5S initiatives, and process improvement teams.
  • Complete work orders safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain open lines of communication with operators, supervisors, production management, and planning teams.
  • Provide assistance to fellow maintenance technicians.
  • Identify and report opportunities for enhancing preventive maintenance and spare parts management.
  • Collaborate with other departments to achieve overall plant objectives.
  • Apply lean manufacturing principles and tools in maintenance tasks.
  • Document spare parts usage accurately.
  • Adhere to scheduling requirements.
  • Interact daily with press supervisors and departmental leaders.
  • Report to the Maintenance Manager, receiving support and guidance from the Lead Extrusion Press Engineer.

Qualifications:

  • Journeyman status in a skilled trades discipline, an associate degree, or certification in Electrical or Mechanical technology, along with two years of manufacturing-related or control programming experience, or equivalent qualifications.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Expertise in mechanics, pneumatics, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
  • Specialized knowledge in industrial maintenance, technology, mechanical drawing, mathematics, computer programming, electronics, or related fields.
  • Ability to think critically and solve problems effectively.
  • Proficient in electrical installation, maintenance, and repair.
