Position Overview:

Key Responsibilities:
The Extracorporeal Life Support Specialist is responsible for the operation and management of the extracorporeal circuit, ensuring optimal pulmonary and cardiac support for patients. The Specialist will:
  • Operate and maintain the extracorporeal circuit and associated equipment.
  • Deliver comprehensive care by collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, assessing patient needs, and implementing appropriate therapies.
  • Participate in patient rounds, offering insights and recommendations based on patient responses to therapy.
  • Analyze laboratory and blood gas results, adhering to established protocols.
  • Adjust circuit parameters to maintain patient stability as directed by the supervising physician.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues within the ECLS circuit, often in collaboration with perfusionists and physicians.
  • Engage in research and data collection initiatives as required.
  • Attend ongoing educational sessions related to ECLS services.

Essential Qualifications:
  • Registered Nurse or Registered Respiratory Therapist with a valid license.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in intensive care or a related field.
  • Completion of an ECLS Training Course and clinical assessment examination.
  • Proven experience with clinical pump operations.
  • Ability to remain composed under pressure and possess a mechanical aptitude.
