Position Summary

As a dedicated Speech-Language Pathologist, you will provide essential speech and language services to students with special needs within a school environment. Your role will involve implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) to assist students in enhancing their communication skills, including pragmatics, fluency, voice, and language development. You will work collaboratively with educational staff to ensure that students achieve their academic and personal goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement a speech and language program tailored to meet the specific needs of students.
  • Collaborate effectively with educational personnel to fulfill the objectives of the educational agency.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of speech-language services and prepare periodic reports.
  • Evaluate and interpret data to provide recommendations for speech-language services.
  • Deliver information regarding the speech-language program to relevant stakeholders.
  • Oversee and mentor interns, paraprofessionals, and volunteers as necessary.
  • Consult with classroom teachers to support students with speech-language challenges.
  • Develop and execute evidence-based interventions suitable for individual and group needs.
  • Adapt intervention strategies based on student progress and performance.
  • Foster positive relationships with students to promote effective communication.
  • Establish appropriate IEP goals reflecting each student's unique strengths and challenges.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development related to speech-language pathology and education.
  • Provide guidance to parents, teachers, and other school personnel regarding communication needs.
  • Collaborate with external agencies to enhance service delivery.
Supervisory Duties

May supervise interns and support staff as appropriate, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and legal requirements.

Language Proficiency

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret various documents, including medical records and educational reports. Capable of responding to inquiries from stakeholders and presenting information effectively.

Analytical Skills

Ability to identify problems, gather data, and draw valid conclusions. Proficient in interpreting complex instructions and handling various variables.

Training Requirements

Physical Requirements

This position requires the ability to perform essential functions, including standing, walking, sitting, and occasionally lifting up to 25 lbs. Vision requirements include close and distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

The role is primarily conducted in an office setting with a low to moderate noise level, conducive to professional activities.
