About the Position

We are seeking a highly experienced and accomplished professional in biomedical engineering product design and development to join our faculty as a Professor of the Practice. This is an academic faculty role that requires significant professional experience in the field, with a focus on teaching, mentoring, and industry partnerships.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in biomedical engineering product design, including capstone design, regulatory affairs, medical device development, project management, quality engineering, and rapid prototyping. They will also be expected to develop and manage external partnerships with the biomedical industry, create projects, and define clinical mentors. Additionally, they will mentor student teams and serve as a liaison between industry or government and the Institute in identifying teaching and research opportunities that support the public interest and societal needs.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a substantial background in biomedical engineering product design and development, with at least 10-15 years of experience. They will have a national/international reputation for excellence, rich and extensive backgrounds in fields and disciplines related to the school or college of appointment, and a history of mentoring, managing direct reports, and working on teams. A B.S. degree in an engineering discipline is required, and an advanced degree in engineering or a professional engineer license is preferred. Experience with regulatory affairs, intellectual property processes, teaching, mentoring engineers, developing and managing industry-academia partnerships, leading biomedical product design and development, and managing interactions between clinical partners and technical staff is also highly desirable.
