Job SummaryAs a Survey Technician I at MasTec, you will play a crucial role in collecting and computing geospatial data to measure the Earth's features. This position requires a strong understanding of construction layout, topographic analysis, and static measurements.
Key Responsibilities- Data Collection: Utilize sophisticated measuring equipment to collect field data, ensuring accuracy and precision.
- Collaboration: Work closely with project teams to understand construction sequences and apply GPS equipment to set lath for construction.
- Survey Instrument Operation: Operate survey instruments to capture static measurements, verifying horizontal and vertical residuals from client-provided benchmarks.
- Calculations and Record-Keeping: Perform calculations to determine accurate elevations, distances, and angles for various construction projects, and record survey measurements and descriptive data using notes, drawings, and sketches.
- Equipment Maintenance: Maintain and troubleshoot GPS equipment as directed by the Survey Equipment team.
- Communication and Teamwork: Foster effective communication between surveying teams, engineering teams, and project management, and collaborate with engineering and construction teams to integrate survey data into project plans.
- Education and Experience: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in surveying, remote sensing, drafting, engineering, or a related technical field, and one year of survey experience in construction or operations.
- Skills and Abilities: Effective verbal and written communication, computer literacy, and well-developed file management skills, as well as the ability to problem-solve, read and interpret documents, and work within precise standards of accuracy.
