Position Objective:

We are seeking a Lead Financial Analyst to join our expanding Accounting team. This pivotal role will oversee revenue recognition processes and payroll management, contribute to month-end closing activities, manage standalone entity accounting, and assist with annual financial audits. Additionally, this position will play a crucial role in the company's tax management and reporting obligations, ensuring smooth daily accounting operations while upholding a professional company image and fostering excellent internal and external relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage monthly revenue recognition for projects, ensuring compliance with company accounting policies.
  • Conduct various period-end closing activities, including reconciliations, journal entries, and supporting the Accounting Manager as necessary.
  • Participate in the annual audit process and oversee the standalone audit for operating project companies.
  • Execute payroll processes bi-monthly and ensure compliance with state and local payroll tax regulations.
  • Maintain certified payroll software and ensure timely reporting of EPC certified payrolls for projects.
  • Assist the Accounting Manager and V.P. of Corporate Controller with tax management responsibilities.
  • Prepare various federal and state reporting requirements throughout the fiscal year.
  • Generate cost segmentation reports for projects as needed.
  • Contribute to the documentation and review of accounting processes.
  • Review business contracts for accounting implications and collaborate with the Accounting Manager on necessary actions.
  • Respond to internal and external information requests, producing reports and schedules as required.
  • Support grant accounting compliance initiatives.
  • Engage in various accounting team projects as they arise.
  • Enhance cross-functional transactional efficiency by identifying accounting risks and proposing process improvements.
  • Ensure adherence to company accounting and finance policies in daily operations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in accounting or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • CPA certification preferred but not mandatory.
  • Experience in the solar development or construction industry is a plus.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a high-performing operational accounting team or with a reputable audit firm.
  • Familiarity with complex accounting concepts, including revenue recognition (ASC 606), lease accounting (ASC 842), and inventory accounting.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP financial statements.
  • Experience with payroll processing and multi-state compliance is desirable.
  • Proven experience contributing to corporate annual audits.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and communicate effectively with team members.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple projects.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated with a collaborative approach to work.
  • Ability to apply a systems mindset to workflow management across accounting functions.
  • Comfortable in a hybrid work environment.
  • Customer-focused mindset, providing reliable service to stakeholders.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proactive problem-solving abilities, with clear communication of issues and solutions.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems such as Sage Intacct or NetSuite is preferred.
  • High proficiency in Office 365, particularly Excel.
