Job Summary:

The Water Production Operator will assist the Operator II in the treatment and production of potable water. This includes collecting and performing water quality tests, performing calculations for chemical additions, and troubleshooting equipment and process control problems.

Responsibilities:
  • Collect and perform water quality tests
  • Perform calculations for chemical additions and fill/adjust chemical feeders
  • Perform custodial duties, such as sweeping and mopping
  • Troubleshoot equipment and process control problems
  • Assist Operator II with maintaining SCADA to ensure proper water levels and system pressures
  • Assist Operator II with minor maintenance of feed pumps, instrumentation, and other equipment
  • Drain sludge and backwash filters
  • Maintain regular and punctual on-site attendance
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Grade "C" Surface Water Certification issued from TCEQ
  • Two years' experience working as an operator in a water treatment plant
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Water treatment experience and TCEQ certification
Working Conditions:

The Water Production Operator will work in a fast-paced environment with varying temperatures, humidity, and noise levels. The incumbent will be exposed to chemicals, fumes, and dust associated with the operation of a water treatment plant.
