This role is centered around supporting a middle school behavior intervention classroom, ensuring a manageable caseload along with dedicated classroom assistance. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to fostering an inclusive and effective educational atmosphere for students with behavioral challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and execute individualized education programs (IEPs) and behavior plans tailored to the specific needs of each student.
- Collaborate with paraprofessionals assigned to the classroom to provide comprehensive support for students.
- Establish and maintain a positive, structured, and engaging classroom environment.
- Monitor and evaluate student progress, adjusting instructional methods as necessary to meet educational objectives.
- Engage with parents, school personnel, and other professionals to coordinate and enhance student support.
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to the formulation of educational and behavioral strategies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education or a related discipline.
- Valid Rhode Island Teaching Certification with an endorsement in Special Education.
- Educator Certificate: All Grades Special Education - Severe Intellectual Disability Teacher PK-12.
- Experience with students exhibiting behavioral needs is preferred.
- Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with students, staff, and parents.
- Capability to work alongside classroom paraprofessionals and manage a supportive learning environment.
