About the JobWe are seeking highly skilled and dedicated RNs with 1-2 years of recent acute care experience to provide high-quality patient care in our hospital's PCU unit. As a PCU Travel Nurse, you will be responsible for caring for patients who require close monitoring and frequent assessment but are not unstable enough to need ICU care.
You will utilize computer equipment to monitor cardiac and other vital information, detecting any changes and enabling intervention in life-threatening or emergency situations. Close observation is necessary as many PCU patients receive complex medications, sometimes through an intravenous line that may need to be adjusted or titrated.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide basic bedside care; stabilize critical cardiac patients.
- Change dressings, insert catheters, and start IVs.
- Prepare, administer, and record prescribed medication, reporting any adverse reactions to treatment.
- Monitor and adjust specialized equipment used on patients, and interpret and record electronic displays.
- Initiate corrective action whenever information from monitoring equipment shows adverse symptomatology.
To be considered for this role, you must have:
- A minimum of 1-2 years of recent acute care experience.
- ACLS and BLS certifications.
- The ability to stand and walk for long periods of time, bend, lean, and stoop without difficulty.
- Easy lifting of up to 20 pounds and occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.
- Good skills for coping with stress and the ability to relate to people of all ages and backgrounds.
