About the Role:

The Environmental Services Technician plays a vital role in maintaining a clean and safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center - Appleton. This position is responsible for cleaning and disinfecting assigned areas, transporting and removing waste, sanitizing, stocking, and organizing assigned areas. The successful candidate will follow standard work processes, comply with infection prevention standards, properly mix and store chemicals, and use personal protective equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Clean and disinfect patient rooms, floors, offices, conference rooms, equipment, furniture, common areas, and waiting rooms following hospital-approved infection prevention standards.
  • Collaborate with multiple departments to ensure patient and department priorities are met day-to-day, resulting in the safest outcome for our patients and customers.
  • Work independently or on a team to achieve system standards.

  • Learns and uses required personal protective equipment per infection prevention protocol.
  • Understands and uses proper hospital-approved chemicals and disinfectants and follows dwell times for each task performed and product used.
  • Understands how to handle various types of waste, such as regular, recycling, hazardous, chemo, regulated medical waste, pharmaceutical, and radioactive.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of and supports hospital mission, vision, values statements, standards, policies, and procedures, confidentiality, corporate compliance plan, customer service standards, and ethical behavior.
Requirements:
  • High School diploma or GED preferred.
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend the English language.
Work Environment:
  • Possible exposure to communicable diseases, hazardous materials, and pharmacological agents.
  • Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock.
  • Potential exposure to sharp objects and instruments.
