Our team is dedicated to advancing health together, and we're seeking a skilled Nursing Care Assistant I to join our Medical Oncology Unit.
Responsibilities- Prepare patients and equipment for procedures, providing manual assistance as needed.
- Obtain and record patient data, noting and informing RN/LPN of collected information.
- Administer treatment and personal care procedures, including feeding, bathing, and ambulation.
- Participate in teaching activities, reinforcing RN and physician instructions as needed.
- Assist with physical examinations, helping position patients and changing non-sterile dressings.
- Take and record vital signs, apply ice bags, and administer douches and enemas.
- Note and report any changes in patient condition.
- Turn and position patients, set up and feed patients as necessary, and provide fresh drinking water.
- Perform finger sticks for blood glucose testing, with appropriate training.
- Assist with admission, discharge, and transportation of patients.
- Follow standard precautions and use personal protective equipment as required.
- Collect, deliver, and conduct routine tests on patient specimens.
- Clean assigned area, stock and replenish supplies and equipment as needed.
- Participate in own professional development, maintaining required skills validation and attending educational offerings.
- Support the development of other staff and formal learners.
- Current Nurse Aide I Registry listing with the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services Division of Health Service Regulation.
- Graduation from high school or GED; or an equivalent combination of related education and experience.
- Basic Life Support certification from American Heart Association.
