Transportation Specialist

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious School Bus Operator to join our team at Darlington County School District. As a key member of our transportation department, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe transportation of students to and from school.

Key Responsibilities:

• Obeys all laws and regulations related to school bus operation.
• Maintains discipline among students on the bus and reports any incidents to the proper authority.
• Ensures the bus is clean and well-maintained, and checks for mechanical defects before each trip.
• Notifies the supervisor in case of mechanical failure or lateness.
• Discharges students only at authorized stops and transports only authorized students.
• Reports all accidents and completes required reports.
• Provides time, mileage, and route reports as requested by the supervisor.
• Enforces regulations against smoking and eating on the bus.
• Checks the bus before and after each trip and adheres to district drug/alcohol testing policy and procedures.
• Reports any condition that may jeopardize safe transportation.

Requirements:

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Bus Driver's license/CDL license required.
• Supervisory references preferred.
• Positive employment history preferred.
• SLED/criminal background review required.

Working Conditions:

This is a full-time position with opportunities for overtime. The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain a high level of professionalism at all times.
