About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Project Engineer to join our team at SAM. As a Project Engineer, you will play a critical role in the successful delivery of highway and bridge construction projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Project Manager in managing contract administration and construction engineering and inspection (CEI) operations.
  • Provide recommendations to clients regarding work progress and payment.
  • Oversee the review of SiteManager activities to ensure compliance with contract.
  • Facilitate continuous coordination between all stakeholders.
  • Assist in organizing and conducting pre-construction meetings.
  • Chair weekly construction progress meetings as appropriate.
  • Coordinate with the Project Manager to monitor CEI budget and take corrective action as required.
  • Conduct or facilitate the review of Shop Drawings and RFI's to support successful project delivery.
  • Monitor and track construction activities and progress.
  • Evaluate and process contractors' requests for payment.
  • Administer the change order process and negotiate changes to the contract.
  • Provide guidance and direction to on-site CEI project staff.
  • Oversee project document control operations to ensure compliance with contractual document requirements and TxDOT procedures.
  • Manage the project close-out phase under the supervision of the Project Manager.
Requirements
  • A licensed Professional Engineer or ability to be licensed in Texas within 6 months from the employment date.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience related to construction management for transportation projects.
  • 4+ years of responsible charge experience as a Project Engineer and/or Resident Engineer on roadway and bridge construction projects.
  • Thorough knowledge of Client / DOT specifications and standards.
  • Experience with Site Manager, Primavera, or other scheduling software.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Motivated to develop business from new and existing clients.
  • Possess an extensive understanding of construction standards and practices.
