Donor Registration Specialist Role

About the Position:

This role is responsible for ensuring a smooth and efficient donor registration process at our plasma collection center.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Greet donors, conduct thorough registration procedures to verify suitability for plasma pheresis.
  • Assist qualified donors in completing screening processes, adhering to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Evaluate self-administered health histories, address basic medical queries related to donation.
  • Refer donors to medical staff when necessary, perform health screening procedures like blood pressure, pulse, weight, temperature, and finger stick for hematocrit and total protein levels.
  • Upon completion of training, educate new donors on therapeutic products derived from donated plasma, explaining the screening process, health screening tests performed, appointment system, donation fees, center policies, proper nutrition, and other essential information.
  • Ensure timely, accurate, and professional responses to all donor inquiries.
  • Maintain awareness of any reactions by donors during or after the pheresis process and notify appropriate staff accordingly.
  • Alert Group Leader or Supervisor to any donor flow issues.
  • Accurately record donor data in the electronic donor information management system as outlined in SOPs.
  • Understand policies and procedures associated with hyper immune programs at the center if applicable.
  • Maintain a clean and efficient work environment, ensure sufficient operating supplies and forms are available as needed.
  • Foster a culture of safety by following Health Safety & Environmental (HSE) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) policies and procedures.
  • Promote safety in all actions.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all personnel, donor, and center information.
  • Be adaptable and open to cross-training in other areas to meet business needs.
  • Bilingual skills may be required to meet business needs, depending on organizational discretion.
  • Required Qualifications:
    • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
    • A minimum of three months' experience in clerical or customer service roles, preferably in a medical or healthcare setting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • The ability to perform basic math calculations is essential.
