Specific Duties

As a teacher in our district, you will be responsible for ensuring that all your students achieve ambitious academic outcomes. This includes planning data-driven, standards-aligned, and differentiated units, lessons, and activities, delivering clear, accurate, and rigorous lessons with a range of instructional and formative assessment techniques, establishing and maintaining a supportive, productive, and positive learning environment with strong classroom management practices, and monitoring and communicating about student progress while engaging in continuous reflection, adjustment, and professional development.

Qualifications

We seek candidates with proven experience accelerating measurable student learning in urban schools, training and/or experience with Culturally Relevant Education, and a minimum of two years' successful classroom teaching experience. All candidates must possess New York State teacher certification in their subject area or qualify to obtain it by the first date of employment. Prior demonstration of exemplary attendance is expected, and the successful candidate will be required to pass a fingerprint-based background check.

Salary/Salary Range

The current starting salary for SCSD Teachers is $51,500, with opportunities to teach in our Summer School Programs at an hourly rate of $42.69. Teachers of color or those with experience and a deep background in Urban Education may qualify for the District's Urban Fellowship Program.
