Job Summary:

The Maintenance Technician will perform general maintenance and repairs for single-family rental homes managed by RENU Property Management. This includes plumbing, electrical, basic carpentry, heating and cooling, and other property maintenance.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Troubleshooting and Repair: Troubleshoots issues to determine necessary repairs. Inspects equipment and systems to identify problems or issues.
  • General Repairs: Performs general repairs that do not require a specialized technician. Examples include general plumbing, electrical, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) repairs, drywall, door repairs, painting, and other repairs needed on rental properties managed by RENU.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Conducts preventive maintenance to ensure that plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems continue operating properly.
  • Customer Service: Providing excellent customer service and promoting a quality living experience for all residents.
  • Education and Communication: Educating residents regarding all maintenance topics, including differentiating between resident responsibility and landlord responsibility.
  • Property Condition Assessments: Completing general property condition assessments at all property visits and alerting the property management team when items require immediate attention.
  • Contractor Coordination: Obtains services of outside contractors when repairs require specialized training.
  • Inventory Management: Maintains inventory of maintenance supplies needed for repairs.
  • Availability: Ability to be at work on a regular and consistent basis including weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Additional Duties: Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Abilities:
  • Technical Knowledge: Thorough knowledge of general plumbing, electrical, and HVAC repairs.
  • Handyman Skills: Ability to perform general handyman duties.
  • Tool Proficiency: Ability to use hand tools and power tools.
  • Instruction Following: Ability to follow instructions.
  • Time Management: Excellent time management skills.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged Standing and Walking: Prolonged periods standing and walking.
  • Physical Demands: Must be physically able to climb ladders, bend, or crawl into awkward spaces.
  • Lifting: Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
Qualifications:
  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: At least three years maintenance required.
  • Desired Qualities: Strong desire to take ownership and help to maintain our national brand.
  • Work Ethic: Strong work ethic required.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills as well as strong verbal and written communication skills; multi-lingual a plus.
  • Computer Literacy: Able to perform at a high-level in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment.
  • Software Proficiency: Computer literacy is a must and candidate will be required to use online company software.
Contractor Requirements:
  • Vehicle Requirements: You must have your own TRUCK, SUV or VAN* for material purposes.
  • Quality Work: You must perform quality work and possess excellent customer service skills.
  • Criminal Background Check: You must pass a background check.
  • Drug Screen: You must pass drug screen and be subject to repeat or random screens.
  • Driver's License: You must have valid driver's license, liability insurance, and adequate auto coverage.
  • Tool Ownership: You must own a standard set of tools to perform skills/trades.
