Medical Assistant

Job Summary:
The Certified Medical Assistant plays a vital role in the care provided at our clinics, interviewing patients, collecting and documenting medical history, and performing vital sign measurements and testing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct patient interviews to collect and document medical history, medication reconciliation, and history of allergies.
- Perform vital sign measurements and standard testing according to clinic procedures.
- Coordinate and perform follow-on procedures as directed by a provider, including specimen collection and wound care.
- Assist with provider-performed procedures such as suture application or splints.
- Communicate with patients regarding their care, notify them of test and lab results, and explain practice policies and procedures using cultural competency and active listening.
- Document care into the electronic medical recordkeeping system, ensuring completion of necessary documentation and forms.
- Collect and prepare testing specimens for transport to offsite laboratories.
- Maintain and monitor consumable supplies and medications for effective ongoing clinical operations.
- Promote a safe, clean, and secure clinical environment, applying standard precautions and principles of infection control.
Requirements:
- Current Medical Assistant certification.
- BLS certification.
- Ability to lift supplies and equipment regularly and navigate the clinical area actively throughout work.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior work experience in a clinical setting.
