As a Behavioral Health Specialist, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality behavioral health services to residents of various care facilities.

About the Role
  • Conduct initial psychiatric evaluations for patients referred by Primary Care Physicians, ensuring accurate diagnoses and effective treatment plans.
  • Provide routine follow-up visits and monitor medication treatment(s), utilizing evidence-based practices to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Document patient progress and medication orders, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Collaborate with Director of Nursing to discuss patients requiring additional specialty mental health care, fostering a comprehensive approach to patient care.
Responsibilities
  1. Perform initial psychiatric evaluation for patients referred for behavioral health services, leveraging your expertise to inform treatment decisions.
  2. Provide routine follow-up visits and monitor medication treatment(s), adapting your approach to meet the evolving needs of patients.
  3. Document patient progress and medication orders, adhering to regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  4. Collaborate with Director of Nursing on treatment interventions, ensuring seamless coordination of care.
  5. Communicate treatment recommendations via phone or email, maintaining open lines of communication with stakeholders.
  6. Oversee psychotropic reduction trials as per facility guidelines, prioritizing patient safety and well-being.
  7. Seek consultation as indicated, recognizing the value of interdisciplinary collaboration in achieving optimal patient outcomes.
Requirements
  • Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant license, demonstrating your commitment to excellence in practice.
  • Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, or Experienced FNP, AGNP, showcasing your expertise in psychiatric care.
  • State and federal licensure requirements including DEA, ensuring compliance with regulatory obligations.
  • BLS certification, emphasizing your dedication to patient safety and well-being.
  • Knowledge of state and federal regulations including OSHA, HIPAA, blood borne pathogens, and others, highlighting your awareness of industry standards.
