Job Title: Reel Tender

Capital City Press is seeking a skilled Reel Tender to join our team in the Pressroom. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for loading rolls of newsprint for the press and ensuring a break-free production run.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Pre-press run: Review layout sheets, set reel arms, and check press settings to ensure a smooth production process.
  • Press run: Monitor paper reel reports, dump waste paper, and maintain a clean pressroom.
  • Post-run: Set up production runs, remove cores, and perform other duties as directed by the supervisor.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Good knowledge of production processes and mechanical skills
  • Excellent time management, judgment, and decision-making skills
Physical Demands:
  • Daily: Balancing, feeling, standing, and walking
  • More than once or twice a week: Sitting and rapid working speed
Work Environment:
  • Loud noise (up to 80 dB or louder)
  • Mechanical hazards (e.g., exposed gears, pulleys, and other moving equipment)
