Job Summary:

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine patient care tasks, including vital signs, wound care, and medication administration, under the supervision of a licensed nurse or provider.
  • Assist with patient examinations and treatments, including positioning, restraining patients, and assisting as directed.
  • Prepare and transport medical equipment and laboratory specimens.
  • Maintain departmental files, including pulling files, assembling forms, and filing returned diagnostic reports.
  • Initiate and complete diagnostic test forms, telephone prescriptions to pharmacies, and relay medical information from physician to patient.
  • Chart in patients' medical records as indicated.
  • Perform lab tests, including urine dip-tests, acetone tests, hemoccult tests, and other tests as required.
  • Collect and preserve specimens for testing, including urine, sputum, and stool.
  • Participate in Department Quality Assurance activities.
Requirements:
  • Vocational Nurse License (California)
  • Basic Life Support
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) Level II required
Additional Requirements:
  • This is an 8-hour position with variable hours 6:30 am – 7:30 pm.
  • May be required to float to other Central locations.
  • Weekend shifts are required.
  • Must successfully pass or have passed the bilingual test within the last twelve (12) months or be active in the QBS program.
