Job Overview

This clinician is responsible for evaluating and diagnosing complex problems relating to speech, language, communication, and/or swallowing disorders. The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology and a Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech and Hearing Association. Experience in Speech-Language Pathology and a strong understanding of speech and language disorders are essential.

Responsibilities
  • Evaluates and/or screens complex patients referred to Speech and Language Pathology with a high degree of professional competency and efficiency.
  • Makes recommendations which may include therapy, referrals for further consultations, extended speech and language evaluations, or suggestions for a home training program monitored by the clinician.
  • Prepares complete written reports of evaluations and progress of individual cases.
  • Consults with clients, patients, and/or caregivers concerning recommendations and necessary carryover programs.
  • Evaluates progress to ascertain effectiveness of home programs.
  • Informs and consults with medical personnel concerning type, extent, and prognosis of speech and/or language disorders with regard to pre and post-operative, medicinal, or other medically prescribed procedures.
  • Responsible for coordination of the Graduate Student Internship program in Speech-Language Pathology.
  • Schedules and provides in-service to other professionals, groups, and service providers regarding speech/language and swallowing disorders in infants and children.
  • Coordinates, oversees, and is responsible for the day-to-day operations of scheduling, hiring, training, and other daily operations for the Speech and Language Program.
  • Responsible for annual performance evaluations of other Speech Therapy staff.
  • Monitors individual workloads and assisting the appointment secretary in scheduling sufficient clinical activity in order to meet workload requirements.
