This is a 13-week travel assignment with night shifts from 7 pm to 7:30 am.

Key Responsibilities:

The nursing staff will provide care for patients recovering from cardiac, pulmonary, vascular, and thoracic surgical procedures. This includes specialized care for patients undergoing Lung Volume Reduction Surgery and esophagectomy. The unit also manages post-procedural patients, including those who have undergone catheterization, stenting, ablation, and pacemaker insertions. Many patients present with additional health challenges alongside their primary cardiac issues. The unit is equipped with telemetry monitoring for all beds, allowing for comprehensive patient assessment and management.

Equipment Utilized:

The department employs computerized charting systems, specifically Cerner (preferred), along with Bedside Barcode Medication Administration for enhanced patient safety.

Required Skills and Experience:

Candidates must have experience in managing medical and surgical cardiac patients, particularly post-operative catheterization cases. A minimum of one year of relevant experience is required. Proficiency in telemetry and the ability to adjust vasoactive intravenous medications are essential. Flexibility to assist in staffing across various cardiac units is also necessary.

Licensure and Certifications:

An active Illinois RN license is mandatory for application, along with BLS and ACLS certifications (preferred).

Work Schedule:

Availability for every other weekend is expected. Specific shift details will be determined at the time of assignment. The position requires a commitment of 36 hours per week.
