Ophthalmology Nurse Specialist

We are a leading provider of ophthalmology services with over 100 eye care centers across the United States. Our team is dedicated to providing exceptional patient care and we are seeking a highly skilled Ophthalmology RN to join our team.
Job Responsibilities
- Greet and admit patients to the pre- and post-operative areas, ensuring a safe and efficient environment for all patients.
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care using the nursing process, taking into account individual patient needs.
- Prepare operating suites for patients, monitoring cleanliness, assembling supplies, instruments, and sutures, and checking equipment for proper functioning.
- Assess patients' conditions on arrival in surgery and provide physical or emotional support as needed.
- Assist anesthesia providers and surgeons during procedures, maintaining constant awareness of the operative situation and a safe environment for patients and personnel.
- Evaluate, observe, and treat patients under local anesthesia.
- Maintain accurate and complete records of patients' surgical experiences.
- Start IVs, give medications, and prepare drugs and solutions per physician protocols.
- Prepare for and manage immediate postoperative care, including transporting patients to recovery rooms, communicating patient needs, and providing patient and family training.
- Assist in orienting new team members and cross-training existing personnel.
- Obtain patient histories through interviews and evaluations, noting data in charts and sharing pertinent information with physicians.
Qualifications
- Associates degree required; BSN preferred.
- Current Arizona RN license.
- 1-year ophthalmology experience as a surgery RN is a plus.
- BLS certification required.
- ASC experience preferred.
- Bilingual preferred.
- Detailed-oriented, reliable, and able to multi-task in a fast-paced, high-volume work environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- This is a Safety Sensitive position.
