Job Description:
The Corporate Counseling & Transactions Unit (CC&T) of State Farm's Law Department is seeking a Technology Counsel to advise on various technology matters.
This role will involve advising on legal issues related to transactions for technology services, including counseling our Enterprise Technology Department, other business areas, and our Purchasing Department on vendor contracts addressing privacy, data security, data licensing, and IP ownership/licensing.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Drafting and negotiating various technology agreements, including SaaS, PaaS, technology consulting, staff augmentation, and outsourcing agreements.
  • Counseling business areas on allocating business and legal risks associated with vendor relationships.

Location:
Bloomington, IL, with a hybrid work arrangement requiring regular office hours and virtual work. Travel may be required via commercial transportation or driving to job-related activities.

Requirements:
  • J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school and excellent academic credentials.
  • Active license to practice law in at least one state and membership in good standing of the bar.
  • Ability to obtain a limited license in IL if not already appropriately licensed in IL.
  • 3-6 years of transactional experience, preferably with expertise in the technology area.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Salary Estimate:
$145,000 - $170,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
