Job Description

Nexus is seeking a highly skilled Regulatory and Contracting Director to join our team. This role is responsible for supporting the legal department in managing responses to Requests for Proposals (RFPs), developing and implementing a contract management program for clients and vendors, and monitoring impactful regulatory changes in the Utilization Management and Independent Review industry.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of substantive law and legal procedures, as well as excellent research and analysis skills. They will be able to work proactively under tight timelines and budgets, and have the ability to coordinate complex activities involving several departments and processes simultaneously.

The Regulatory and Contracting Director will contribute to key legal and compliance initiatives and organizational objectives, and will work in collaboration with all members of the Legal and Compliance team, as well as all Nexus business leaders and staff, to develop, implement, and evaluate departmental goals, strategies, programs, and projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Research and gather information about RFPs, consult with executive leadership team to determine which RFPs to pursue, and project manage and collaborate with SMEs to obtain input for the proposal.
  • Ensure final proposal products meet guidelines and are complete, accurate, and submitted timely while positively reflecting the company and its values.
  • Conduct post-proposal follow-up with third parties on bids not won and track and trend RFP outcomes.
  • File or renew company certification and/or license applications necessary for proposals.
  • Assist with selection, implementation, and maintenance of a legal and compliance technology solution to house company contracts, governance documents, proposals, regulatory and accreditation documentation, policies, and other information.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of an end-to-end contract management process for clients and vendors, which includes facilitating internal review and approvals, liaising with outside parties, helping to ensure contracts comply with internal company standards, communicating contractual obligations to internal stakeholders, maintaining copies of executed agreements, developing monitoring plans to ensure all parties meet agreed upon terms and conditions, tracking termination and renewal dates and ensuring stakeholders have ample opportunity to evaluate changes, and developing post-contract monitoring plans to ensure termination conditions are met.
  • Assist the Chief Legal Officer in monitoring developments and changes in federal, state, and local statutes, and regulations, to assess the impact on the organization.
  • Cascade actionable regulatory changes to internal stakeholders.
  • Along with the Director of Compliance identify policies, procedures, and controls needing updates due to regulatory changes and assist with tracking those to completion.
  • Provide support for ad hoc projects, assignments and other initiatives as needed.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in proposal management, regulatory change management, or legal role or a role with similar, transferrable skills.
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Master's Degree preferred.
  • Paralegal, project management or other advanced certification preferred.

Position Demands:

This position requires sitting, bending, stooping for up to 8 hours per day in an office setting. Ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 10 lbs. Ability to learn technical material. The person in this position occasionally needs to move about inside the office to access filing cabinets, office machinery, etc. Must be able to operate a computer and other office productivity machinery such as a calculator, copy machine, printer, etc. The person in this position frequently communicates with guests, employees, and vendors and must be able to exchange accurate information.
