Job Summary

The Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a highly skilled Physician to join our team at the VA Northeast Ohio Healthcare System. As a Primary Care Physician, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care to our nation's veterans. This is a full-time position with a competitive salary and benefits package.

Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical examination, diagnosis, and treatment of acute and chronic diseases, preventive care, and coordination of care for a panel of primary care patients.
  • Appropriate documentation of patient care in clinical records is expected.
  • Refer to specialists when additional input and treatment outside of the scope of the physician's experience and training is required.
  • Responsible for monitoring PACT teamlet performance to assess adherence to VA standards, assure quality and effectiveness of care, and meet VA performance measures.
  • Lead the team in assisting the patient advocate and administration in resolving patient concerns and inquiries.
  • Exercise medical decision-making and provide a broad range of diagnostic and therapeutic services for a specific group of patients.
Requirements
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must have a Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree from an accredited medical school.
  • Must have a current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
  • Must have completed residency training, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
  • Must be proficient in spoken and written English.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong mentoring skills and experience working with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Extensive primary care experience treating a complex patient population.
  • Currently active in a primary care practice.
  • Demonstrates a high level of practice using evidence-based medicine principles involving patients who have complex illnesses.
  • Board certified in Internal Medicine or Family Practice.
