Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Cytologist to join our team at UPMC. As a Cytologist, you will play a critical role in the diagnosis of cell samples and the interpretation of Pap tests.

Key Responsibilities
  • Render a diagnosis for consideration by the Pathologist on all other cell samples.
  • Perform cytopreparation, staining, and clerical functions as necessary.
  • Operate and maintain equipment within the scope of training.
  • Assume responsibility for first-line supervision of the section/department on a temporary basis.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of cytologic criteria and keep abreast of current developments in the field of cytotechnology.
  • Interact with all laboratory customers courteously and professionally.
  • Enter diagnoses on all patient cases in the Pathology Information System.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university.
  • Successful completion of a CAHEA accredited Cytotechnology program.
  • Cytotechnologist (CT (ASCP)) certification or registry eligible.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1-2 years experience as a Cytotechnologist.
  • Pathology Information System experience.
