Job Summary:
Position: Grocery Assistant Department Manager
FLSA Status: Hourly
Reports To: Grocery Department Manager
As a Grocery Assistant Department Manager, you will play a vital role in assisting the Grocery Department Manager with the leadership of the Grocery Stocker team, effectively showcasing our product offerings, and achieving departmental objectives.
Key Responsibilities:In this role, your duties will encompass:
- Team Leadership: Inspire and guide Grocery associates by embodying Festival's culture and performance standards.
- Recruitment & Training: Collaborate with the Grocery Department Manager to ensure optimal staffing; participate in the hiring process and facilitate comprehensive training for all associates.
- Scheduling & Performance Oversight: Assist in managing work schedules and contribute to performance evaluations, addressing any necessary policy matters in conjunction with management.
- Operational Support: Enhance store profitability by effectively managing all facets of Grocery Department operations, including labor, expenses, pricing, and customer service.
- Coordination: Collaborate with receiving teams to guarantee timely product deliveries and maintain stock levels.
- Communication: Engage with team members through regular meetings to share updates and achievements.
- Inventory Management: Ensure proper inventory levels and product pricing, while maintaining appealing displays for customers.
- Customer Service: Deliver outstanding service, assist with special requests, and resolve customer issues to ensure satisfaction.
- Departmental Support: Aid Grocery associates in their daily tasks and promote a clean and organized work environment.
- Quality Assurance: Uphold quality standards and ensure product availability throughout the day.
- Attendance: Maintain regular attendance and provide timely notice for any absences.
- Team Support: Perform additional duties as assigned.
To excel in this position, candidates should possess:
- A high school diploma or equivalent experience.
- At least 2 years of leadership experience in retail or grocery settings.
- Strong knowledge of retail food operations, particularly in non-perishable departments.
- Ability to effectively coordinate with store and vendor teams.
- Proficient decision-making and communication skills in a dynamic environment.
- Understanding of safety protocols and the ability to identify potential hazards.
- Familiarity with equipment such as hand jacks and forklifts.
This position requires:
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks such as lifting up to 60 pounds.
- Manual dexterity and coordination for operating equipment.
- Capability to perform repetitive tasks effectively.
This is a full-time, hourly position that may require flexibility in scheduling, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
