As a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Emergency Department at South Pointe Hospital, your primary role will be to deliver high-quality care to your assigned patients. You will collaborate with a dedicated team in a dynamic environment, providing urgent care to those in need. Your responsibilities will include:

- Delivering direct nursing care.
- Effectively monitoring and documenting patient conditions.
- Administering prescribed medications and treatments.
- Evaluating and coordinating discharge plans for patients.

- A minimum of one year of RN experience in an Emergency Department (ED) or Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct nursing care in alignment with established policies and protocols. Implement and monitor patient care plans.
  • Record and communicate patient conditions as necessary.
  • Document patient conditions and the effectiveness of care and interventions.
  • Regularly evaluate and update care plans to meet expected outcomes.
  • Act as the primary coordinator for multidisciplinary patient care.
  • Administer medications and treatments per approved nursing protocols.
  • Execute physician and nursing orders accurately.
  • Assess and coordinate discharge planning needs with the healthcare team.
  • Identify educational needs of patients and their families, considering cultural and special concerns.
  • Provide relevant teaching and educational materials.
  • Validate and document patient and family understanding of the education provided.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development through formal and informal education.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Educational Requirements:

  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred.

Licensure and Certifications:

  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) required upon hire.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required for critical care areas within the first year of employment.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required within one year for RNs in designated pediatric areas.
  • Additional certifications may be required based on specific departmental needs.

Work Environment:

  • Requires critical thinking, decisive judgment, and the ability to work independently.
  • Must be able to function effectively in a high-stress environment.

Experience Requirements:

  • At least one year of acute care RN experience in a hospital setting is required.
  • Relevant experience in skilled nursing facilities or rehabilitation settings may also be considered.

Physical Demands:

  • Requires full body motion, including lifting and handling patients.
  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids is expected.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Adhere to standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
