Job Summary

The Art Instructor will work closely with the Outreach Community Coordinator to develop a comprehensive arts education program for ASP and community children. The successful candidate will have experience in teaching various arts techniques and skills, and will be responsible for creating a calendar of arts classes, providing art lessons for all ages, and arranging art classes to participate in special events.

Key Responsibilities
  • Create a calendar of arts classes that meets the needs of ASP and community children
  • Provide art lessons for children and adults, focusing on visual arts and artistic skills development
  • Teach students how to develop artistic skills and techniques, including drawing, painting, ceramics, metals, printmaking, fiber arts, photography, sculpture, and mixed media
  • Arrange art classes to participate in special events, such as exhibits and music and arts recitals
Working Conditions

The Art Instructor will work in a fast-paced environment, requiring the ability to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis. The successful candidate will also be able to grasp, push, pull objects, and operate a computer, fax, and telephone.

Requirements
  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Experienced arts background, with a focus on teaching and instruction
  • Ability to read music and work within a team environment
  • Patience and adaptability, with a strong commitment to the Salvation Army's mission and values
