Position Overview

The Fleet Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the drivers within a designated region. This role focuses on managing and mentoring these drivers regarding their responsibilities and safety protocols; ensuring they have a rewarding employment experience at Ryder; and guaranteeing that we fulfill our clients' needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily operations of the drivers.
  • Ensure professional, timely, and effective communication with drivers through phone calls and system messages, fostering a positive environment to enhance driver engagement, reduce turnover, and boost driver satisfaction and productivity.
  • Monitor driver detention times.
  • Analyze Lytx events and provide coaching to drivers as necessary. Document behaviors appropriately.
  • Review Hours of Service (HOS) violations in Geotab and guide drivers on compliance. Document violations as needed.
  • Track driver attendance, compensation, and status within the system.
  • Offer continuous guidance and leadership to drivers to ensure exceptional customer service, achievement of key performance indicators (KPIs), and the professional growth of our drivers.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to identify and implement innovative solutions to enhance driver retention.
  • Manage driver payroll and ensure drivers have quality time off.
  • Ensure compliance in driver training programs.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, or Supply Chain is preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience in supply chain, logistics, or a related field is preferred.
  • At least two (2) years of direct supervisory or leadership experience is required.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access) is required.
  • In-depth knowledge of the logistics industry is essential.
  • Understanding of local and federal regulations is required.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Supply Chain Management components is preferred.
