We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our Surgical Services team at Bon Secours. As a key member of our interdisciplinary care team, you will provide exceptional patient care, working collaboratively with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct thorough patient assessments, analyzing data to identify priorities and develop effective care plans.
- Administer medications safely and efficiently, adhering to state and hospital policies.
- Coordinate patient care across hospital departments, serving as a liaison between teams.
- Act as a patient safety advocate, participating in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care.
- Delegate tasks and functions according to laws, regulations, and standards, considering the competency of team members.
- Provide preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative care, including assessment and discharge instructions.
- Assess patient condition before, during, and after surgery to ensure optimal outcomes.
- Anticipate scrub nurse needs, opening sterile packs, operating equipment, and maintaining accurate records.
- Current RN license in the state of employment or compact licensure.
- BLS certification (Basic Life Support) or obtain within 30 days of hire.
- ACLS certification (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) or obtain within 6 months of hire.
- PALS certification (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) or obtain within 6 months of hire.
- CNOR certification (Certified Perioperative Nurse) or obtain within 1 year of hire.
- SGNA certification (Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates) or obtain within 1 year of hire.
- 2 years of critical care experience or completion of an OR internship program.
- Successful completion of Periop 101 or equivalent training.
This role requires working in a fast-paced environment with periods of high stress and fluctuating workloads. You may be exposed to physical altercations, verbal abuse, and hazardous substances or body fluids. You will be required to use physical restraints and work in a setting with high noise levels and bright lights.
Physical RequirementsThis role requires manual dexterity, the ability to lift and carry patients, and the capacity to work in a variety of positions, including standing, sitting, and walking. You will be required to use latex products, work with moving mechanical parts, and be exposed to dust, fumes, and potential electrical shock.
