Food Service Associate

Avera Health is seeking a skilled Dietary Aide to join our team at Hendricks Community Hospital. As a member of our dietary staff, you will play a vital role in providing quality meals for our patients and residents.

The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to teamwork, excellent communication skills, and a basic understanding of food production. We offer a competitive starting wage of $16 an hour, with weekend and holiday rotations required.

About the Role:

This position requires good communication skills, understanding of special diet needs, and cooperation with dietary staff. The role involves maintaining sanitation standards and following proper food handling techniques while working in a team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist cook in preparation and service of meal
  • Dish salads and desserts, prepare vegetables and beverages, and assist cook in meal production
  • Assist in tray assembly, tray/cart delivery, dining room service, and clean up
  • Assist with in-between meal nourishment preparation, service, and clean up
  • Assist in receiving and storage of food supplies
Qualifications:
  • High school degree, preferred
  • Good working knowledge of all products used in the Dietary Department
  • Basic understanding of food production
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to plan own work schedule for the day based on the menu and to meet the meal schedules
  • Able to work with and secure the cooperation of fellow dietary employees in order to implement the meal
  • Able to work with geriatric residents and understand their special diet needs
