About This Role

The Medical Director - Alzheimer's role is a key position within Biogen's Specialty Care, North America (US) Medical team. As a medically accountable lead, you will support the development and implementation of the US Medical Strategy for Alzheimer's, aligning with global strategy and budgetary expectations.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the long-range planning, development, and execution of the US medical strategy, tactics, and budget for Alzheimer's.
  • Serve as the US Medical expert for collaborative research projects and provide medical oversight for commercial promotional materials.
  • Collaborate with commercial, global medical, market access, legal/compliance, and training teams to ensure effective interaction and collaboration at multiple levels.
  • Develop the US-relevant data generation strategy with alliance partners to address identified medical/scientific data gaps.
  • Contribute to the development/adaptation of materials for the US Commercial team, including presentations, trainings, briefs, and talking points.
  • Present data at US Medical affairs events, including advisory boards, trainings, congresses, and medical education events.
  • Build and nurture relationships with external stakeholders, including HCPs, healthcare institutions, and advocacy groups, in the Alzheimer's therapeutic landscape.
  • Create a positive team climate and ensure individuals within the Alzheimer's/Specialty Care team are effectively assessed and coached with talent development plans in place.
Requirements
  • MD, PhD, PharmD, DNP, or comparable advanced degree.
  • Minimum of 5 years of pharmaceutical industry experience, preferably with prior work in Headquarters-based Medical Affairs or Field Medical based roles.
  • Relevant experience in Alzheimer's required.
  • Strong working knowledge of US regulations as relevant to Medical Affairs.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience with medical launch and products at various stages of the lifecycle.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and collaborate with global, regional, and/or affiliate medical teams to ensure regional activities are executed in alignment with global medical strategy.
  • Ability to manage projects and take initiative to solve complex and challenging problems.
  • Experience managing and developing a team of Medical Affairs professionals.
