Key Responsibilities:


The Maternity Care Nurse is responsible for delivering safe and effective patient care through the nursing process, which includes assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. This role involves:

  • Providing direct patient care within the established scope of practice.
  • Guiding and directing patient and family education, as well as the activities of other nursing staff, while upholding care standards in the maternity unit.
  • Responding promptly and accurately to changes in patient conditions and treatment responses.
  • Ensuring a safe environment for patients and visitors.
  • Utilizing the chain of command to advocate for patient well-being and the appropriateness of care for mothers and newborns during antepartum and postpartum periods.

Qualifications:


To be considered for this position, candidates must possess:

  • A current and valid state RN License.
  • A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree is preferred.
  • BLS certification within 30 days of hire and maintenance of current status.
  • ACLS certification within 90 days of hire and maintenance of current status.
  • NRP certification within 90 days of hire and maintenance of current status.
  • Basic Fetal Monitoring certification within 60 days of hire and maintenance of current status.
  • AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certificate within 12 months of hire.
  • AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring certificate is preferred.
  • STABLE certification is preferred.
