We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Host to join our team at The Peninsula Chicago. As a Host, you will be responsible for providing exceptional service to our guests and ensuring that their experience is memorable and enjoyable.
Key Responsibilities- Manage all activities related to reservation handling, greeting, seating, and farewell in the bar, adhering to the hotel's standards.
- Perform pre-service and after-service procedures as per standards, ensuring seamless operations.
- Confirm reservations and large parties two days in advance, ensuring accurate and timely communication.
- Handle on-the-day reservations to Peninsula standards, providing exceptional service to our guests.
- Understand and accurately follow the standard of sequence of service, ensuring a smooth and efficient experience for our guests.
- Observe and maintain the daily condition of all physical facilities and equipment in the restaurant, public area, and make recommendations for corrections and improvements as needed.
- Responsible for taking out orders over the phone or in person, ensuring accurate and timely service.
- Responsible for cash handling, maintaining accurate records and ensuring security protocols are followed.
- At least two years of guest service experience, with a proven track record of providing exceptional service.
- Knowledge of Open Table or other computerized reservation systems, with the ability to navigate and utilize effectively.
- Some computer experience, including Excel and Word, with the ability to learn and adapt to new systems.
- Some wine knowledge, with the ability to provide recommendations and pairings to our guests.
- Micros experience, with the ability to navigate and utilize effectively.
- Ability to multi-task, with a high level of energy and enthusiasm.
- Impeccable grooming and excellent presentation, with a strong attention to detail.
- Outgoing, well-spoken, polite, level-headed, patient, and able to smile easily, with the ability to get along with different personality types.
- Ability to handle high-stress situations, with a calm and composed demeanor.
