Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our team at the University of New Mexico. As a Registered Nurse, you will provide direct nursing care to assigned patients, working within the nursing process to ensure high-quality patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver safe and effective direct care to patients, adhering to Hospitals and departmental policies.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to implement and document individualized care plans, incorporating age-specific considerations.
  • Assist with special tests and procedures, ensuring proper consent has been obtained.
  • Participate in orientation and assume precepting and evaluation responsibilities of new personnel.
  • Assist with emergency measures for sudden, adverse developments in patients.
  • Ensure patient medical records contain necessary information.
  • Answer telephones and triage calls as per departmental policy.
  • Administer medication, including IV medication, via the Seven Rights; document and communicate clinical findings.
  • Maintain a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients/families in accordance with Hospitals standards.
  • Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, reading current literature, attending in-services, meetings, and workshops.
  • Follow patient safety-related policies, procedures, and protocols.
Requirements
  • Program Graduate
  • CPR for Healthcare/BLS Provider or Professional Rescuer within 30 days
  • RN in NM or as allowed by reciprocal agreement by NM
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to exert 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects or people.

This position requires working in an environment with potential chemical and biohazardous materials, requiring personal protective equipment.
