Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Refrigeration Technician to join our Industrial Refrigeration team at Publix Super Markets, Inc. As a Refrigeration Technician, you will play a critical role in maintaining the integrity of our refrigerated warehouses and manufacturing facilities. Your expertise in ammonia refrigeration systems will ensure that our products remain fresh and of high quality.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and operate industrial refrigeration systems, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency.
  • Conduct daily rounds to monitor temperature and humidity levels, making adjustments as needed.
  • Perform predictive and preventative maintenance procedures on ammonia and Freon refrigeration systems, including compressors, pumps, fans, heat exchangers, glycol systems, and industrial utility systems.
  • Train and mentor entry-level refrigeration technicians in daily operations, inspections, and repair techniques.
  • Participate in process improvement activities to enhance system efficiency and minimize downtime.
  • Perform general housekeeping duties, including cleaning and maintaining equipment, and adhering to safety protocols.
Requirements
  • At least 18 years old.
  • Ability to obtain EPA Section 608 certification within one year of hire.
  • Ability to obtain medical clearance for respiratory protection within two weeks of hire.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 65 pounds.
  • Experience using hand tools and ability to supply and maintain them.
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent work habits and adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
  • Ability to conform to OSHA, PSM, HAZMAT, and Publix safety programs and regulations.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and respond to unplanned breakdowns with urgency.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in glycol, heat exchangers, HVAC, and water chiller systems.
  • Experience in electrical systems, including single and three-phase motor systems, power distribution, and low-voltage controls.
  • Experience maintaining and troubleshooting 480V C3 phase motor control systems.
  • Experience in refrigeration, including maintaining and troubleshooting systems using ammonia or Freon.
