Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Youth Developmental Professional to lead our STEM programs at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Northeast Florida. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating high-quality programs that promote youth development and academic success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program Development and Implementation
    • Develop and implement STEM programs that align with the 21st Century Community Learning Centers narrative.
    • Participate in specialized STEM training with BGCNF's community partner, STEM2Hub.
    • Interface with school science teachers to ensure afterschool STEM programs align with school programming.
  • Program Administration
    • Prepare weekly reports for the Program Director/Unit Director regarding activities, special programs, upcoming events, and attendance.
    • Maintain a daily written schedule and ensure programs begin and end on time.
  • Youth Development and Support
    • Ensure youth development principles are incorporated into all programs and activities.
    • Provide guidance and discipline to ensure a safe and positive environment for youth.
    • Assist with planning and implementing a variety of youth programs for members of all ages.
  • Collaboration and Communication
    • Maintain close, daily contact with club staff and volunteers, club members, and supervisor to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain guidelines/instructions, instruct, and advise/counsel.
Requirements
  • Education
    • High School diploma or GED.
  • Experience
    • Knowledge of youth development.
    • Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior issues.
    • Ability to work with the public.
    • Ability to plan and implement quality programs specific to one of the Clubs core areas.
    • Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment.
  • Work Environment
    • This position generally works M – F, 2 PM – 7 PM, but may require longer hours outside of this schedule and occasional weekends when necessary.
Physical and Mental Requirements
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for long periods; bending and squatting on occasion.
  • Ability to lift to 20 lbs. on occasion.
  • Ability to hear at a normal conversational level.
  • Ability to maintain high energy level when necessary.
  • High degree of emotional intelligence.
