Nursing Assistant

Job Summary:
The Nursing Assistant serves as a caregiver to residents during scheduled work periods in long-term care. This role provides resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance to assigned residents under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN). The Nursing Assistant is expected to know and follow infection prevention and control policies and Personal Protective Equipment use.
Responsibilities:
- Provides assistance with basic health care needs, including daily living activities such as bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing/undressing, and providing psychosocial support.
- Assists residents with meals and snacks, provides water and supplements as appropriate.
- Documents resident interactions and outcomes related to resident care, behavior, activity, and dietary.
- Communicates resident's changing condition and care-related concerns/responses to the charge nurse.
- Collects non-invasive body fluid specimens and gathers vital signs.
- Provides housekeeping and laundry services to assist residents with keeping living areas clean and operational.
- Participates in departmental/organization committees and task forces as needed.
Qualifications:
- High school graduate or general equivalency diploma (GED) preferred, but not required.
- Minimum age of 16.
- Required Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification with the State Board of Nursing, or state certified CNA within four months of date into the position.
- Satisfactorily completes yearly department-specific competency testing and maintains a record of continuing education credits for each year.
