About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Construction Inspector I to join our team at SAM, LLC. As a key member of our infrastructure development team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and safety of our construction projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect construction methods and workmanship to ensure compliance with plans and specifications
  • Work with project managers and engineers to identify and resolve issues
  • Conduct field inspections and oversight of construction activities
  • Maintain accurate records of project progress and inspection work
  • Review contract documents and verify compliance with governmental regulations
  • Assist with coordinating materials sampling and testing
  • Verify accuracy of payment requests and invoicing
  • Perform day and nighttime traffic control inspections
  • Coordinate with contractors' staff and effectively communicate with all parties
  • Perform standard mathematical calculations involving linear distances, areas, and volumes
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in Construction Engineering & Inspection (CEI) for transportation projects
  • Direct field experience as a contractor or materials-testing technician can substitute for Construction Inspection experience on a case-by-case basis
  • Highly motivated and works well with minimal supervision
  • Thorough knowledge of DOT specifications and standards
  • Familiarity with SiteManager software is preferred, but not required
  • Experience with Primavera and other scheduling software preferred, but not required
  • Functional computer skills to include Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Ability to complete inspector certification courses
