Position Overview:
The Radiation Therapist plays a crucial role in the precise localization of treatment zones and the administration of radiation therapies to patients, all under the supervision of the Radiation Oncologist.
Required Qualifications:
- Completion of an accredited Radiation Therapy program, with current Montana Licensure (Radiation Therapist). Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association and registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) is mandatory. A minimum of three years of relevant experience in a comparable position and familiarity with electronic health record systems is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administers radiation therapy and ensures that all necessary documentation for treatment is accurately completed. Conducts simulations and simulation radiography (including CT, MRI, and PET scans) to identify treatment areas while verifying the treatment plan with the Radiation Oncologist. Provides education to patients regarding the procedures on their initial treatment day. Adheres to all safety protocols concerning ionizing radiation for both self and patients, promptly reporting any anomalies to the Medical Physicist. Participates in weekly chart rounds and monthly departmental meetings. Maintains a safe and hygienic work environment. Performs additional tasks as required.
