JOB SUMMARY:
The Bartender is responsible for providing exceptional beverage service to guests while adhering to all relevant laws and hotel policies regarding alcohol service.
REPORTS TO:
Restaurant Manager/Assistant Restaurant Manager
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma or equivalent is required. A solid understanding of drink mixology is essential. An accredited bartender certification is preferred. Previous experience in bartending is mandatory.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in the English language.
- Basic mathematical abilities.
- Attentiveness to customer needs.
- Capability to stand for extended periods.
- Flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
- Aptitude for multitasking.
- Good hearing and vision, with or without corrective lenses.
- Ability to lift a minimum of 20 pounds.
- Basic computer skills.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Understand and apply federal, state, and local regulations regarding alcohol service, along with hotel policies.
- Prepare and set up the bar according to established standards.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar area throughout the shift.
- Perform necessary side work to ensure efficient service.
- Accurately report tips for each pay period.
- Serve well-crafted beverages to guests.
- Punctually report to the Restaurant Manager/Assistant Restaurant Manager in full uniform.
- Manage tabs, process guest checks, operate the POS system, and handle payments.
- Complete other related duties as assigned.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
APPEARANCE AND GROOMING: All staff members must adhere to the grooming standards outlined in the associate handbook.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and correspondence, write basic correspondence, and effectively communicate in one-on-one and small group settings.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to perform calculations involving discounts, interest, and percentages, and apply basic algebra concepts.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to understand and follow instructions, solve problems with multiple variables, and interact with various customer personalities.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical requirements include sitting, using hands and fingers for handling objects, talking, and hearing. Occasional standing and walking are required, along with the ability to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment is typically moderate in noise level, with a high traffic and volume atmosphere.
