Overview

Responsibilities

As a Registered Nurse on our Flex Team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care to our patients on the Mother Baby Unit. This includes assessing patient needs, developing and implementing individualized care plans, and evaluating patient outcomes. You will also be responsible for participating in quality improvement initiatives and collaborating with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care delivery.

Essential Key Job Responsibilities
  1. Utilize the nursing process to ensure appropriate patient care is provided in a cost-effective, quality-driven, and patient-focused manner.
  2. Collect pertinent social, psychological, developmental, and spiritual data from patients, significant others, and other healthcare team members.
  3. Perform ongoing assessments, formulate nursing diagnoses, and goals, plan appropriate interventions, and evaluate the outcome of interventions.
  4. Consistently document in the patient and unit records according to written health system standards of care to meet legal and quality patient care requirements.
  5. Provide appropriate teaching and information to patients and families, including information on pain management, nutrition, skin integrity, fall prevention, diabetes, disease process, smoking cessation, and discharge instructions.
  6. Demonstrate commitment to the goals and values of the patient, hospital, community, and nursing profession through cost containment measures, maintaining confidentiality, appropriate ethical decision-making, and ensuring patient safety.
  7. Use interventions substantiated by research as appropriate in the patient population, participate in research activities, identify opportunities for research, and collaborate with outcomes managers and departments.
  8. Participate in quality of care activities, evaluate the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice, assist in collecting quality data, analyze the data, and formulate action plans to improve quality care.
Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

Education: Associate's Degree, Nursing

Required Licensure and Certifications

Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas; BLS; Based on location assignment, may also require BLS, ACLS, and/or PALS
