Family Health Centers at NYU Langone, a leading healthcare provider, seeks a skilled Head Cook to join its team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for cooking and preparing meals in accordance with the USDA's Dietary Guidelines for Americans, NYSOFA guidelines, and the NYC Food Standards.
The Head Cook will supervise the proper functioning and cleaning of the kitchen, kitchen equipment, dining areas, and adherence to strict sanitary standards.
Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing daily meals based on production menus
- Submitting food orders and participating in menu planning, receiving, and proper storage of food
- Preparing, cooking, and supervising portioning and serving of food as required by NYC Aging
- Maintaining food usage records and assisting in taking monthly physical inventory
- Taking daily temperatures of meals and recording them, noting any menu changes or substitutions
- Directing kitchen staff and volunteers in proper food preparation, handling, and other daily tasks
- Attending training as requested by the supervisor
- Completing Food Protection and Simple Serving course as required by NYC Aging
- Providing customer service in a respectful and professional manner
Minimum qualifications include a high school education or equivalent, the ability to speak, read, and write in English, and prior experience cooking in a food establishment, commercial school, senior center, or non-profit organization.
