Position Overview:
The Operating Room Technician plays a vital role in supporting surgical procedures by assisting the surgical team. This position requires a thorough understanding of human anatomy and the surgical process, ensuring the highest standards of patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain sterile conditions throughout surgical procedures, including organizing the sterile field and managing surgical instruments.
- Assist the surgeon and surgical team by providing necessary instruments and supplies promptly and accurately.
- Support the Registered Nurse in circulating duties as needed.
- Prepare and handle specimens with care and in accordance with protocols.
- Ensure the operating room is cleaned and restocked before and after procedures, preparing for upcoming surgeries.
- Assist in medication preparation under the supervision of the circulating RN.
- Participate in safety protocols, including the "time out" procedure.
- Utilize personal protective equipment effectively.
- Demonstrate knowledge of surgical instruments and equipment, ensuring proper cleaning and processing.
- Order surgical supplies as required.
- Exhibit strong communication and leadership skills.
- Engage in self-development and continuous learning.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support departmental operations.
Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited Surgical Technician program or equivalent certification in the operating room environment is required.
