Job Description

Position Summary:

Ryder is seeking a skilled Diesel Technician to join our team in Philadelphia, PA. As a Diesel Technician, you will be responsible for performing vehicle maintenance and repair duties, including standard vehicle maintenance, preventive maintenance, and complex mechanical and electronic repairs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform standard vehicle maintenance and preventive maintenance tasks
  • Diagnose complex mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computer tools
  • Complete complex and detailed mechanical inspections and repairs with minimal supervision
  • Replace defective components as instructed
  • Work unsupervised on most tasks
  • Perform facility maintenance duties
  • Interact with customers/drivers to properly determine the nature of the complaint
  • Utilize key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation available
  • Work in accordance with all federal and corporate compliance guidelines

Requirements:

  • Post-secondary vocational education strongly preferred
  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • Valid CDL (Class A) is highly desired; mandatory in some locations
  • Must possess state license as required
  • Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy duty and medium duty equipment

Additional Requirements:

  • Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy duty and medium duty equipment
  • Knowledge of and the ability to apply knowledge of computer skills: PC, Windows, mouse, etc.
  • This position requires the ability to drive Ryder vehicles
