Position: Medical Billing Specialist
OVERVIEW: Responsible for managing insurance and billing processes related to the services provided to our clients.

  • Accurately input charges to ensure efficient record management and prompt payment processing.
  • Initiate collections for private pay accounts following insurance denials or cancellations.
  • Follow up on outstanding claims within the standard billing cycle.
  • Verify the accuracy of insurance payments in accordance with contractual agreements.
  • Identify and process secondary or tertiary insurance claims.
  • Maintain accurate billing tables and inform management of any rate adjustments.
  • Investigate unpaid claims and communicate with patients and insurance providers to resolve issues.
  • Review denied claims and determine necessary modifications for proper processing and maximum reimbursement.
  • Address inquiries from patients, insurance companies, or colleagues regarding assigned accounts and the billing process.
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of reimbursement requirements for assigned payers and general knowledge for others.
  • Communicate any policy changes or issues to management for dissemination across the organization.
  • Collaborate with payer representatives as needed.
  • Foster a positive work environment through teamwork and a constructive attitude.
  • Serve as a resource for accounts receivable challenges and provide backup support for the overall system.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • At least six (6) months of experience in medical insurance billing or a related field; or a combination of education and experience.
Skills and Competencies
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication abilities.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficient data entry skills.
  • Competent in computer usage with strong typing proficiency.
  • Effective organizational skills.

Language Proficiency
English (verbal and written)
Mathematical Skills
Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations using a calculator.
Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills
Ability to apply logical reasoning to follow instructions provided in various formats. Ability to address issues involving multiple variables in standardized scenarios.
